About the job

YouTube Video Editor for Business Documentary Project Description: I am launching a new YouTube channel focused on the spectacular downfalls, scams, and billion-dollar collapses of tech startups. I already have the complete, data-heavy script (1,750–2,000 words) and I need an elite YouTube video editor who understands high-retention mechanics, pacing, and visual storytelling to bring this audio to life.

What You Will Do

Visual Sourcing: Find and integrate archival news clips of Adam Neumann, SoftBank, and WeWork offices, blending them seamlessly with high-quality stock footage. Data Visualization: The script is packed with hard financial numbers (valuations, cash burn rates, losses). You must create clean, visually engaging on-screen graphics, charts, and text animations to highlight these metrics. Relentless Pacing (The "Never Static" Rule): Apply constant, subtle motion (slow zooms, pans) to every clip. Visuals should change every 3 to 5 seconds to match the micro-loops in the script. Heavy Sound Design: Audio is 50% of the experience. You must add risers, sub-bass rumbles for tension, impact hits for financial reveals, whooshes for transitions, and appropriate documentary-style background music.

Requirements

You must understand the YouTube algorithm, specifically how visual pacing impacts Average View Duration (AVD). Expertise in Premiere Pro, After Effects, or CapCut Desktop. Proven experience editing highly engaging, documentary-style YouTube videos (please do not apply if you only edit gaming highlights or talking-head vlogs). To Apply, Please Include: Links to 2-3 videos you have edited in this exact documentary/business breakdown style. The word "ILLUSION" at the very top of your proposal so I know you read this brief. Your rate for a 10-12 minute video. Note: This is for the first video, but I have a roadmap of 10 videos scheduled (one every two weeks). If this project hits the retention targets, this will become a long-term, ongoing contract. Skills Required: Video Editing, After Effects, Motion Graphics, Sound Design, YouTube Strategy
