About the job

I need a hardware engineer who can take an industrial-grade IoT concept from paper to fully functioning prototype. The device’s sole purpose will be data collection and analysis of environmental parameters—primarily temperature, humidity and any other ambient metrics you feel are valuable for harsh factory floors. Here’s what I already know I need: • A rugged sensor suite that can survive high-noise, dusty manufacturing spaces. • A low-power MCU or SoC with built-in connectivity (LoRaWAN or Wi-Fi are both acceptable; advise on the best fit). • On-board storage for buffering readings when the network drops and secure OTA firmware-update capability. • Accurate calibration routines so the environmental data is trustworthy when it reaches the cloud. Deliverables 1. Complete schematic and PCB layout files (Altium, KiCad or your preferred tool). 2. A bill of materials with realistic lead times and alternate components. 3. Production-ready firmware (C/C++, MicroPython, or Rust) capable of sampling sensors, timestamping readings and pushing packets via MQTT/HTTP. 4. One assembled prototype with test report demonstrating accuracy within ±1 °C and ±3 % RH over 48 h of continuous operation. Acceptance Criteria • Pass 24-hour burn-in at 60 °C without reboot or data loss. • Stable wireless link in a metal-heavy environment at 30 m line-of-sight. optional PEO integration as well • Data payload adheres to a JSON schema that I will share once we engage. If you’ve shipped industrial IoT boards before, know your way around sensor fusion, and can document each step for a smooth hand-off to my in-house firmware team, let’s talk.
