About the job

I’m building a small, self-contained LED setup that doesn’t just blink for show—it should read the surrounding environment and translate that data into a clear visual output. The core idea is simple: onboard sensors feed live information to a strip or matrix of LEDs, and the viewer instantly knows the current conditions without checking a screen. Right now I’m committed to environmental sensing/display as the primary function; which specific parameters we track (temperature, humidity, air-quality or others you suggest) and how we map them to colour shifts, patterns, or even a numeric read-out is still open. I’m keen to hear creative approaches that keep the interface intuitive at a glance. I picture a compact board—Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi Pico or a similarly low-power microcontroller—driving addressable LEDs. It should run from a single USB-C or battery pack, sleep efficiently when conditions are stable, and wake instantly on changes. A simple calibration routine and a way to tweak thresholds via serial or Bluetooth would be ideal. Deliverables • Schematic and full BOM ready for ordering • Clean, well-commented firmware (C/C++ or MicroPython) with clear mapping between sensor values and LED behaviour • Assembly guide plus short video or photos that prove the prototype performs as specified • Quick-start user notes so anyone can flash firmware, power up, and see it work Acceptance criteria The prototype must power on, auto-detect the chosen sensors, and update the LEDs in real time; any sensor reading outside a safe range should trigger a noticeably different visual state so it’s obvious even from across a room. If you have a solid track record with IoT, sensor fusion or LED artistry and can package everything into a tidy, reproducible build, I’m ready to get moving.
