My next consumer-product line needs plastic components that can shrug off high operating temperatures without warping, cracking, or losing appearance. I already ruled out metals and composites for cost and weight; the brief is strictly plastics with proven temperature resistance—for example PPS, PEEK, PEI, or any other specialty resin that meets the performance window. Scope of work • Evaluate application data I will supply (service temps, expected loads, cosmetic requirements). • Short-list at least three suitable plastic grades, summarising mechanical, thermal, and regulatory properties from manufacturer datasheets. • Compare global and regional suppliers on MOQ, lead time, colour options, and indicative pricing. • Highlight any tooling or processing considerations (melt temp, shrinkage, recommended mould steels). • Advise on certification pathways relevant to consumer products (UL, RoHS, FDA contact, as applicable). Deliverables 1. Comparative matrix (PDF + editable sheet) of candidate plastics and their key properties. 2. Supplier contact list with quotation snapshots or catalogue pricing. 3. Brief sourcing strategy memo outlining sample acquisition and next steps. Acceptance criteria • Data sources cited and datasheets attached. • All property values in both metric and imperial units. • At least one supplier per recommended grade able to deliver within 8-10 weeks. I will review the findings, select a material, and may extend the engagement into tooling and production support if the initial work is spot-on.
